The demon backs away from Adder and Norte while keeping his eyes fixed on the Thygearist. "You are Ted Steelman. My father spoke so highly of your work when he was alive. It's a shame I had to put him down."
Ted gently lays Ryhasola on the floor and walks toward the throne. ‘So you cheated hell, murdered your father and have been impersonating him for how long?" Norte and Master Adder backed away as the demon and Ted walked towards each other.
"You know how long! The semi human voice cracked and the demon attacked the Thygearist in a very irrational manner. They went back and forth for minutes. Ted got an attack in every once in a while but he was mostly on the defensive. Ted spoke feverishly while dodging the demon's onslaught. "I had come here to make an offer to your father. But if you would just calm yourself and listen, I might be persuaded to make the same offer to you."
The Green Wizard realizing he had forgotten himself turned quietly and walked back to his throne. "So Ted, what kind of deal do you think can get you out of Vosce: City of the Dead." The demon glares over at Master Adder when he said that.
"The inhabitants of this city!?", Master Adder dropped to his knees. "all of the men and women here were loyal servants to you and your father and you just killed them!"
Squinting as more mist gushed out of the gash Norte gave him, the green specter speaks "They still serve me! As human refuse for Demoni here to feast on. The supply is running low so recently I've had to venture outside these walls."
"What in the hell are you getting at?" the Adder's voice rumbled in anger now. Ryhasola rises and drags herself over towards Norte and Adder. "The group of Calculators you were traveling with made an excellent meal for my Demoni."
With hesitation Adder grabs the sword from Norte and charges the Greek Wizard. The sword stops deep under to green velvet as the Wizard looks down laughing. "Adder coughs up blood just after he sees his folly. The sword that had impaled the Green Wizard was transplanted inside the Adders body in a mirror like fashion instantly ripping into his heart! "You...cough....cough....used redirection magic! You really are a wiz..."
Master Adder drops dead on the floor.
"Papa!" A drowsy Ryhasola tries to hold Norte back to no avail. The green specter just watches the boy cry and cry. "Little one. Your relationship with your father was not so different than mine. Believe me, I have just spared you an eternity of distress."
Norte, through his pouring tears yells at the Thygearist. "Kill him Ted. Kill that bastard! Why did you let this happen? Why didn't you help my dad? Please...oh god no please."
Norte's words fly by Ted barely wounding him. The demon gets agitated and smacks the the dead father and boy into the wall. Ted Copper glances over at that tragic scene and then back at the Green Wizard. "I have an exchange to offer you. I will make you a weapon stronger than Demoni and I only want one thing in return!" The Green Vosce Prince moves awkwardly some more and sits back in his throne. "What is it you want, Ted Copper Steelman?"
Ted speaks simply and softly. "Let the boy and girl go back to AB unharmed. Let him take his father and bury him without any demonic recourse of any kind and I shall stay and build you a great weapon."
"Ted." Ryhasola spoke softer than even the Thygearist. The demon cackled and agreed very eagerly. "You may leave the city of the dead without fear. But after today if you ever return here, I will swallow your souls.
Norte not saying a word helps Ryhasola pick up Adder's dead body. The young Adder walks past Ted giving him the coldest stare of tear-filled distain the man had ever had before. In an instant they were gone and Ted was left with a great debt to pay.
The looming dark sky seemed to give the winged beast even greater speed. The men that they carried on their backs were dizzy from the constant movement but held on to the mystic reigns nonetheless. General Franker Moon's beast was the biggest and fastest out of the seven. This was obviously a great show of respect on Truth's part.
The moon peeked out through the clouds casting a brilliant reflection over the two oceans. Franker looked down at the great cyclones that filled the ocean middles in amazement. The distance between Mis Le Mis and Lavi Sorraha was great. Moon just kept looking down at the torrential waters now. The Goth from the far away land of Graadis now understood why no boats had ever taken that route.
More clouds filtered through the semi normal black beast and their wings spread as far as they could. Franker and his men held on as the demonic flying beast began their smooth descent. One after another the beasts landed and dispersed into thin air.
Franker and his men had landed on the same shore that Ted did. Some metal fragments still just strewn about. Some of the soldiers ran into nearby bushes to hurl. Others just stood and awaited the next chain of orders from their leader.
All the men were gathered on the beach now gazing out into the vast sea that he'd just flown over when Truth's voice echoed out from the woods. "Inside this forest you will see...the watery most demonic voice continued...you will see the full scope of my plan to capture the Thygearist. The men lead by Franker Moon cautiously ventured into the dark woods.
After all the things they'd been through Crescinthia and Lorna both lay down on a soggy knoll as soldiers march back towards Lavi Sorraha at a moderate pace. The mother looks at the daughter and then turns her head away. "What is it mommy?", the little girl pushes the issue of her mom's silence.
Crescinthia closes her eyes and tells her daughter softly. "I think we should leave this country, Lorna. At first I was ready to die for it...but now I'm not so sure." The mother began talking as if she was a child. "The Metal Mage may have had the right idea. His last day here do you remember what he told us?" The little girl had a perplexed look on her face as she strained to remember. "Anyone can die for what they believe in. That is easy. Real strength comes through making tough decisions and living. Living for the sake of others is not the way. Live for yourself. So maybe the ultimate purpose of life is not to let it waste away in mediocrity but to grow strong and fight only when you must." The little girl sighed after the long soliloquy and the clapped her hands together.
"That Mage might have been right. We will free Lavi after we've sought out and obtained great power. Anything before that will only end in failure. Do you agree?" Lorna knew that there wasn't much that could be done so she agreed with her mom. The two ladies decide to begin a new journey that starts with a path that starts in Lavi and will end in Lavi.
The morning sun in AB brought about many things. Lake Rivers was already up doing pushups in the training yard. He had traded his bloodies pink garb for a soldier's outfit. But he kept the sunglasses just the same. Voih awoke much later. The wounds on his body were still fresh and made it hard for him to move. He removed the bandages from his eyes and he tried to force himself to see. Every time he did that the face of that devil would appear almost as if he was inside Voih's mind. The young Adder shuddered at the thought of that and rolled over to try to sleep that thought away.
The plan to protect AB was already in effect. Men were searching up and down the coast for the huge machine that had burned the rye fields. The findings were all inconclusive. Besides Master Adder's team, two other groups of Calculators who had traveled north from AB were reported missing as well. It was concluded that demons were now overflowing on the countryside and that they were in possession of advanced technology.
The AB soldiers were all gathered now. They were 400 men strong around the east, west, and north entrances into the information capitol. The southern border was connected to Graadis so they rarely worried about being attacked with a war country protecting their southern border.
So the men well all ready and stood firm, adamant that they would let no creatures destroy their home. So Lake Rivers continued to train and the men just stood guard and waited for the Demoni threat. The nurses treated Voih's wounds and gave him fresh bandages; however his depression began to sink deeper when he realized that he may never see her face again.
Norte and Ryhasola exited the city of the dead and were left unharmed as promised. They carried Master Adders body and walked toward AB never saying a word.
Inside the hollowed halls of the Vosce castle, Ted Copper Steelman and the Green Wizard continued on with the negotiation. "The Lord had many blueprints of your early works. Recently I've been able to construct armored tanks thanks to your plans, Ted Copper." The prince picked at his oozing wound. "I gave those to your father as a sign of good faith...to defend the lives of his followers. Years later I am coming to you,...giving you the opportunity of a lifetime." Copper Steelman sits down at a huge antique banquet table.
"Tell me exactly what you plan to build for me. I imagine it is far more advanced that the land tanks I have patrolling the AB borders." Ted Copper Steelman balls his fist at the words of the twisted Demoni. The Green Wizard continues," Give me the specifics Ted." The Green Prince cackled in the candlelight. The flickers of light just miss the Thygearist's face, leaving him sitting in the darkness.
